Death in Sarajevo
Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the worst countries in the Western Balkans with sometimes highest rate of coronavirus cases in the region. n the two weeks to March 14, the canton of Bosnia’s capital registered 1,763 cases and 31.5 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. There were just under a 100 funerals each day of the March.
Hospitals that have been in poor condition since the war have been full of patients for months. On some days, patients were even in the hallways.
Bad government did not help solve the pandemics, quite the opposite. Corruption also reigned in this period, and due to the procurement of 100 unusable respirators, ministers and the Prime Minister are currently on trial.
Finally, Bosnia is one of the countries with the highest mortality rates in Europe.
